SUMMARY:PACK OF LIES
DESCRIPTION:The Jacksons are a nice middle aged English couple. Their best friends are their Canadian neighbors\, the Krogers. All is blissful in their world until a detective from Scotland Yard asks to use their house as an observation station to try and foil a Soviet espionage ring operating in the area. The Jacksons become more and more put out as Scotland Yard’s demands on them increase. Yet\, they are really put to the test when the detective reveals that the Russian spies may be the Krogers\, and asks them to help set a trap. Prepare a 1-2 minute monologue that is truthful to your personality.  Choose material that is straightforward and honest. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS: \nA character driven family portrait\, Godfrey\, still grieving from the death of his wife\, moves his family from Pensacola\, Florida\, to Brooklyn\, New York while searching for a better life for his two daughters\, Ernestine and Ermina.  They must make a life from their father’s choices\, all while navigating the realities of race and poverty in 1950s America. In this evocative yet poignant\, lyrical yet frank\, painful yet poetic self-styled Glass Menagerie\, the characters are made of anything but glass… \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES: \nErnestine Crump- (F- 18 to early 20s to play 17) – African American.  She is eldest daughter of Godfrey\, a studious dreamer\, maternal\, intelligent\, stubborn\, mature\, self-aware\, thoughtful\, determined\, shy\, honest\, and the protagonist of the story. \nGodfrey Crump- (M-mid 30’s- 50)- African American.  He is the Father of Ernestine and Ermina Crump\, stoic\, hardworking\, warm\, tender\, somber\, faithful\, neat\, devoted\, meticulous\, hopeful\, and forgiving. \nLily Ann Green- (F-mid 20’s-40’s)- African American.  Aunt\, deceased mother’s sister.  She is a non-conformist\, drinker\, liberated\, intellectual\, rebellious\, savvy\, loud\, communist\, passionate\, smart\, vivacious\, bawdy\, glamorous\, sexually confident\, genuinely loves her nieces. Actors who can sing a plus. \nErmina Crump- (F- 18 to early 20s to play 14-16) – African American. Younger sister of Ernestine\, curious\, self-assured\, fierce yet fragile\, humorous\, rebellious\, out-spoken\, petulant\, sexually curious. \nGerte Schulte- (F-late 20’s-40)- German immigrant and Godfrey’s new bride. Friendly\, soft yet strong\, no-nonsense\, direct\, understanding\, patient\, mature.
