SUMMARY:August Wilson's SEVEN GUITARS
DESCRIPTION:From the master playwright of Fences\, August Wilson\, comes this story in his decade-by-decade exploration of the black experience in America. In a Pittsburgh tenement in 1948\, friends gather to mourn the sudden death of a blues guitarist who has died on the verge of his musical success. Flashing back to the busy week preceding Floyd “Schoolboy” Barton’s demise\, we learn the reasons for his tragic fall. Mixing the genres of dark elegy\, bawdy comedy\, and mystery\, Schoolboy’s story has a depth and richness that will touch the soul’s of all Americans who have fallen just short of their dreams. \nCAST LIST:\n\nRayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY” BARTON)\nLatonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\nEbonie Marie (LOUSIE)\nWilliam Warren (HEDLEY)\nJay Reed (CANEWELL)\nGilbert DeLeon (RED CARTER)\nJustin High (RUBY)\n\nSHOW TRAILER:\n \nPREVIEW VIDEO 1:\n \nPREVIEW VIDEO 2:\n \nPERFORMANCE PHOTOS:\n\n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 1: Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 2: Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\, Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, Gilbert Roy DeLeon (RED CARTER)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 3: William Warren (HEDLEY)\, Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 4: Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\, Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\, William Warren (HEDLEY)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019) \nPHOTO 5: Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, Gilbert Roy DeLeon (RED CARTER)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 6: Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 7: Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, William Warren (HEDLEY)\, Gilbert Roy DeLeon (RED CARTER)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 8: Justyn High (RUBY)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 9: Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, Gilbert Roy DeLeon (RED CARTER)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\, Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 10: Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\, Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, William Warren (HEDLEY)\, Gilbert Roy DeLeon (RED CARTER)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 11: Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 12: Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\, Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\, Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, Justyn High (RUBY)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 13: Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\, William Warren (HEDLEY)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (MAINSTAGE\, MAY 18th – JUNE 15th\, 2019)\nPHOTO 14: BACK ROW: Latonya Kitchen (VERA DOTSON)\, Rayshawn Chism (FLOYD “SCHOOLBOY’ BARTON)\, FRONT ROW: Gilbert Roy DeLeon (RED CARTER)\, Ebonie Marie (LOUISE)\, William Warren (HEDLEY)\, Justyn High (RUBY)\, Jay Reed (CANEWELL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n\nJoin Our Facebook Event!

From behind their screens\, these individuals who might never encounter each other in real life — a student\, an IRS-pusher\, and a financier– forge a bond as strong as blood. Off the computer\, however\, in a Puerto Rican neighborhood in North Philly\, Odessa Ortiz’s real-life family is falling apart. Her nephew\, Elliot\, has returned from Iraq both physically and emotionally broken. Her niece\, Yaz\, is unable to reconcile her identity as a North Philly girl from the barrio with her upper-crust\, intellectual lifestyle.
