SUMMARY:BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY
DESCRIPTION:BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY\nBy Pearl Cleage\nPlaying in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Mainstage Theater\nMay 20 – June 17\, 2023\nDirected by Sonya Randall\nIn the summer of 1930 in Harlem\, NY\, the creative euphoria of the Harlem Renaissance has given way to the harsher realities of the Great Depression. Guy and Angel\, recently fired from the Cotton Club\, struggle to hold on to their dreams; he of costuming Josephine Baker and she of having a steady career as a singer. When Leland\, a recent transplant\, comes to Angel’s aid\, he sees in her a memory of lost love and a reminder of the Alabama skies he misses. Will they find what they are looking for in Harlem\, or will they have to look beyond 125th Street to fulfill their dreams? \n \nBUY TICKETS HERE:\nThis production closed June 17\, 2023.\nCOVID Patron Safety Protocol\n\nMasks are strongly encouraged to be worn inside the theatre spaces\, but are not required except for special performances.\nMasks are required for those coughing and sneezing\nMasks are available for any patron or volunteer who would like or need one\nBLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY will have a MASKS REQUIRED performance on Friday May 26th at 8pm\n\nThis Show Contains:\n\nAdult Content and Themes\nLoud Gunshots\n\nAct One is Approx. 1hr. 15mins\nThere will be a 15 Minute Intermission\nAct Two is Approx. 1 hr.\n  \nSHOW TRAILER:\n \nPREVIEW CLIP:\n \nPERFORMANCE PHOTO GALLERY:\n\n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 1: De’Sean Moore (GUY JACOBS)\, Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 2: De’Sean Moore (GUY JACOBS)\, Danielle Davis (DELIA PATTERSON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 3: Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 4: Leopold (SAM THOMAS)\, Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 5: Leopold (SAM THOMAS)\, Danielle Davis (DELIA PATTERSON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 6: De’Sean Moore (GUY JACOBS)\, Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 7: Logan Battle (LELAND CUNNINGHAM)\, Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 8: Logan Battle (LELAND CUNNINGHAM)\, Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 9: Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\, De’Sean Moore (GUY JACOBS)\, Logan Battle (LELAND CUNNINGHAM)\, Leopold (SAM THOMAS)\, Danielle Davis (DELIA PATTERSON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 10: Leopold (SAM THOMAS)\, Danielle Davis (DELIA PATTERSON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 11: De’Sean Moore (GUY JACOBS)\, Leopold (SAM THOMAS)\, Danielle Davis (DELIA PATTERSON)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 12: Logan Battle (LELAND CUNNINGHAM)\, Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 13: Logan Battle (LELAND CUNNINGHAM)\, Leopold (SAM THOMAS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY (MAINSTAGE\, May 20 – June 17\, 2023)\nPHOTO 14: Logan Battle (LELAND CUNNINGHAM)\, Alisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\, De’Sean Moore (GUY JACOBS)\, Danielle Davis (DELIA PATTERSON)\, Leopold (SAM THOMAS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n\nCAST:\n\nAlisha Anderson (ANGEL ALLEN)\nDe’Sean Moore (GUY JACOBS)\nDanielle Davis (DELIA PATTERSON)\nLeopold (SAM THOMAS)\nLogan Battle (LELAND CUNNINGHAM)
