Among them is Hercule Poirot\, formerly of the Belgian police\, and Arthur Hastings\, a wounded soldier on leave. When someone is murdered at her country estate\, Poirot must use his “little grey cells” to unravel the motives of an enigmatic husband\, a cash-strapped stepson\, a doctor expert in poison\, and the rest of the dubious household.
