Special performances on Thursday and Sunday nights may be added for private parties and special events. An accompanist will be provided\, so please bring sheet music that is in your key\, clearly prepared\, indicating where you start and stop. No tracks or a cappella. \nBe prepared to dance. \nSides for cold readings will be provided at the auditions/callbacks. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nThe heart warming\, Tony Award winning musical about the milkman\, Tevye and his family in the Jewish community of Anatevka in Tsarist Russian. Tevye strives to keep up the traditions of his faith and culture against the backdrop of discrimination and prejudice. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nNOTE: All ethnicities and gender identities will be considered for all roles. \nTEVYE (M 40-60): A lovable\, hard working man with a sense of humor and a connection to his Jewish roots. He is a loving father to 5 daughters. Strong actor who can connect with the audience. Baritone. \nGOLDE: (F\, 35-50): Tevye’s wife and a strong matriarch. Her passion in life is her family and helping them to have a promising future. Good comic timing. Mezzo. \nYENTE (F\, 50-70): the matchmaker. She is the village busybody. Alto. \nLAZAR WOLF (M\, 40-70): The butcher. He is the wealthiest man in town. He wants to marry Tevye’s daughter\, Tzeitel. Large presence. Baritone. \nTZEITEL (F\, 18-25): Eldest daughter. Strong willed. Strong actress. Mezzo. \nMOTEL (M\, 18-30) The tailor. He is meek\, nervous and sensitive. A loveable mensch in love with Tzeitel. Tenor. \nHODEL (F\, 18-25): Tevye’s second daughter. In love with Perchick. Strong actress\, feisty. Mezzo. \nPERCHIK (M 20-30): The tutor and a radical. A visitor to the town. Charismatic\, in love with Hodel. Tenor. \nCHAVA (F 18-23): Tevye’s third daughter. The scholar of the family who falls in love and runs off with Fyedka\, a Russian soldier. She breaks her father’s heart. Mezzo. \nFYEDKA (M 21-30): The Russian soldier who falls in love with Chava.  Dance skills a plus. High tenor to A. \nSHPRINTZE and BIELKE (F\, 10-14): Tevye’s two youngest daughters. \nBAR MITZVAH BOYS (M\, 12-16): Two counterparts to the youngest daughters. \nCONSTABLE (M\, 30-55): The Russian military official. A good man trapped in his military responsibilities. \nTHE RABBI (M\, 45-85): The religious leader of the village. Baritone. \nMENDEL (M\, 18-25): The rabbi’s son. Baritone. \nMORDCHA (M\, 30-70): The innkeeper. Tevye’s friend. \nAVRAM (M\, 20-50): The bookseller. Baritone. \nGRANDMA TZEITEL (M/F 55-70): She is a ghost figure in Tevye’s dream with a very strong solo. The person playing this role will double as ensemble. Mezzo. \nFRUMA SARAH: (F\, 30-45): Is a ghost figure in Tevye’s dream. Requires a strong singer actress with a challenging solo. The person playing this role will double as ensemble. Mezzo. \nNACHUM (M\, 20-65): the beggar. Ensemble. \nYUSSEL (M\, 20-65): the hatter. Ensemble. \nSHAINDEL (F\, 40-60): Motel’s mother. Ensemble. \nSASHA (M\, 18-30): Russian soldier.
