Sept. 16\, 2025; Mon. – Thurs. 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.; Sat. 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) \n(Please see beginning rehearsal schedule BELOW for specific dates and times.) \nLocation: Long Beach Playhouse \nNOTE: Open to working with some limited minor conflicts\, but we will not be casting people with conflicts on tech dates and performances. \nAUDITION REQUIREMENTS:\nBring headshot and resume.  \nSides for cold readings will be provided at the auditions. \nNOTE: Casting three couples. \nAct 3 will require a NY Jewish dialect. \nAll ethnicities are encouraged to audition. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nPLAZA SUITE is composed of three acts all set in Suite 719 of New York City’s Plaza Hotel. The first act\, Visitor From Mamaroneck\, introduces the audience to not-so-blissfully wedded couple Sam and Karen Nash\, who are revisiting their honeymoon suite in an attempt by Karen to bring the love back into their marriage but her plan backfires and the two become embroiled in a heated argument about whether or not Sam is having an affair. \nThe second act\, Visitor from Hollywood\, involves a meeting between movie producer Jesse Kiplinger and his old flame\, suburban housewife Muriel Tate. Muriel has come for nothing more than a chat between old friends. Jesse\, however\, has other plans in mind and repeatedly attempts to seduce her. \nThe third act\, Visitor from Forest Hills\, revolves around married couple Roy and Norma Hubley on their daughter Mimsey’s wedding day. In a rush of nervousness\, Mimsey has locked herself in the suite’s bathroom and refuses to leave. Her parents make frantic attempts to cajole her into attending her wedding while the gathered guests await the trio’s arrival downstairs.  \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nNOTE: All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. \nVISITOR FROM MAMARONEK: \nKAREN NASH (F\, 40s-50ish years old\, Ethnicity open.): Pleasant\, witty and down to earth. She is OK with being middle-aged. She is also secretly hoping the stay at the Plaza will bring her and her husband closer together. Must be able to convey a balance of sarcasm and drama.  \nSAM NASH (M\, 40s-50ish years old\, Ethnicity open.):  Not accepting his age. He is neat and well-tailored. He is overly concerned with his appearance. Sam is a workaholic\, but not because he likes work.  \nVISITOR FROM HOLLYWOOD: \nJESSE KIPLINGER (M\, 30s-35\, Ethnicity open.):  Confident\, successful Hollywood producer. He has one purpose in seeing Muriel. (This role includes physical intimacy that will be coordinated.)  \n*This role also appears as the BELLHOP and BORDEN. \nMURIEL TATE (F\, 30s\, ethnicity open.): She is somewhat naive. She is warm\, generous\, and very impressed with Jesse though unsure of meeting with him. (This role includes physical intimacy that will be coordinated.)  \n*This role also appears as JEAN and MIMSEY.  \nVISITOR FROM FOREST HILLS: \nNORMA HUBLEY (F\, 45 – 50ish\, ethnicity open.): Mother of the bride who tries to appear calm in a crisis. She sways from trying to keep Type-A husband in control while passively and aggressively taking a stand for herself. This character has sequences of physical/farce comedy. Requires a NY Jewish dialect. \nROY HUBLEY (M\, 45 – 50ish\, ethnicity open.): Father of the bride with the bills to prove it. A competitive businessman\, out of his league when dealing with emotions and marrying off his daughter. This character has sequences of physical/farce comedy.
