SUMMARY:TWO TRAINS RUNNING
DESCRIPTION:August Wilson’s TWO TRAINS RUNNING\nPlaying in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Mainstage Theater\nFeb. 20 – March 20\, 2027\nBy August Wilson\nDirected by Rovin Jay\nIt’s 1969\, the peak of the Black Power movement\, in August Wilson’s mature and intimate take on those turbulent times\, TWO TRAINS RUNNING. Memphis Lee’s coffee shop lies in Pittsburgh’s Hill District and serves as a hangout for a host of regulars: Wolf\, a numbers runner; Risa\, a laconic waitress tired of unwanted attention; Sterling\, just released for bank robbery; and Hambone\, who can’t let go that he was cheated out of a ham.  When the city threatens to raze the restaurant in the name of “urban renewal\,” can the lofty ideals of the sixties support the reality of Black hardship in a community on the brink of change? \nPURCHASE YOUR TICKETS HERE:\nGet a Season Subscription now to the 2026 – 2027 Mainstage Season by calling our Box Office at 562-494-1014 option 1.  Individual tickets for single performances are now available. \nCHOOSE YOUR DATE:\n\nFriday\, Feb. 19\, 2027\, 8pm – Half Price Preview\nSaturday\, Feb. 20\, 2027\, 8pm – Opening Night and Champagne Gala\nFriday\, Feb. 26\, 2027\, 8pm\nSaturday\, Feb. 27\, 2027\, 8pm\nSunday\, Feb. 28\, 2027\, 2pm\nFriday\, March 5\, 2027\, 8pm\nSaturday\, March 6\, 2027\, 8pm\nSunday\, March 7\, 2027\, 2pm\nFriday\, March 12\, 2027\, 8pm\nSaturday\, March 13\, 2027\, 8pm\nSunday\, March 14\, 2027\, 2pm\nFriday\, March 19\, 2027\, 8pm\nSaturday\, March 20\, 2027\, 8pm – Closing Night\n\n  \nAGE LIMIT\nAs a courtesy to our patrons\, it is the policy of the theatre not to admit children under the age of 5.
