DESCRIPTION:TITLE: THE HATMAKER’S WIFE\nAUTHOR: Lauren Yee \nDIRECTOR: Shinshin Yuder Tsai \nRUN:  June 8th – July 6th\, 2019 \nFridays & Saturdays 8pm\, Sundays at 2pm. Special performances on Thursday and Sunday nights may be added for private parties and special events. \nThis is a community theater production.  Non-Equity.  There is no pay.  \nAUDITION DATES:\nOpen Call: \nDates: Monday\, April 15th & Tuesday\, April 16th\, 2019 \nTimes: 7pm – 9pm \nLocation: Long Beach Playhouse   \nCallbacks: \nDate and Time: Wednesday\, April 17th\, 7pm – 10pm\, by invitation only. \nREHEARSALS:\nFirst Read-Through: Saturday\, April 20th\, 12pm – 3pm \nRegular Rehearsal: Starting April 22nd\, Rehearsals Mondays – Thursdays 7pm– 10:30 pm\, Saturdays 11 am – 4 pm. \nLocation: Long Beach Playhouse \nCHECK HERE FOR THE BEGINNING REHEARSAL SCHEDULE\n  \nAUDITION REQUIREMENTS:\nBring headshot and resume. Sides for cold readings will be provided at the auditions. If you happen to bring your favorite clothing item (jacket\, shirt\, hat\, etc.) to show off\, that would be cool too. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nA young couple moves into a house that is filled with memories of the previous tenants. Voice\, the lady of the house\, begins reading about the lives of Hetchman\, his wife\, and his hat while trying to make sense of her own.  \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nHETCHMAN (M\, 45-70 – Must be able to play age range of 30-90) A man obsessed with his hat and has little time for anything else. Oblivious\, a bit cantankerous\, curmudgeonly\, possibly loud. Once was a romantic\, a creative. (English with Quasi Eastern European Accent…take that as you will) \nHETCHMAN’s WIFE (F\, 45-70 – Must be able to play age range of 30-90) A woman who is nothing but supportive\, smart\, and lovely. Deserves the world\, but asks only for crumbs. As her name entails\, she is indeed Hetchman’s unfortunate wife. (English with Quasi Eastern European Accent…take that as you will) \nMECKEL (M\, 45-70 – Must be able to play age range of 30-90) A best friend to Hetchman. Best because he is the only friend Hetchman has. Wonderful\, kind\, charming\, like chocolate.  (English with Quasi Eastern European Accent…take that as you will) \nVOICE (F\, 20-30) A young woman who questions her life. Strong\, hard-working\, either wise or smart\, she doesn’t know yet. Means well\, always\, but isn’t capable of it\, usually.   \nGABE (M\, 20-30) A young man who doesn’t question his life. A problem-solver to a fault\, which he will try to solve as well.  \nWALL (F\, 40 – 70 – Ageless) A wall. She has seen the history of this house and ventures to tell the story. Patient\, or maybe not. Didactic\, but probably not. (English with Quasi Eastern European Accent…take that as you will) \nGOLEM (M\, 20 – 40 – Ageless) A golem\, a la the Jewish golem of Prague.
