Known as “the first lady of the sliding scale\,” she warbled and screeched her way through a performance to an audience who fell down with laughter. Delusional and joyously happy\, Miss Jenkins paid little attention to her critics\, supported by a circle of devoted friends who were almost as eccentric as she was.
