Married to Graham. Knows what she loves and how to keep them. Determined\, brutal\, candid.  \nGRAHAM: (M\, 40’s). Married to Gloria. Looks out for number one\, but doesn’t always know how to count. The best friend and Maid of Honor. A human Swiss army knife. Prepared\, compassionate\, intense.  \n(And to get rid of a body):  \nNANA (Violet Ward): (F\, 70+). Has seen her fair share of idiots and that’s probably not over. Intimidating\, opinionated\, shrewd.  \nLENO: (M\, Early to Mid 20’s). Violet’s grandson. Means well but doesn’t always end well. Kind\, waffler\, probably knows what he’s doing.  \nSIERRA: (F\, Early to Mid 20’s). Rolls with the punches and sees the cup half full. Quick-thinker\, devoted\, lovely. (Needs to be able to hold a tune as she sings Amazing Grace.) \n  \nSHOW 2:  REMBRANDT PERFECTED by Braddon Mendelson\nStage Reading March 26\, 2022 \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nOn a Spring day in 1839\, American artist and telegraph inventor Samuel Morse and scenic artist Louis Daguerre — whose daguerreotype ushered in the new world of photography — meet for the first time in Daguerre’s studio in Paris. He soon discovers that\, although the residents seem nice\, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together\, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs\, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score\, not to mention puppets\, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nPUPPET CHARACTERS: Ages are an indication of the puppet age in the show\, not necessarily the age of the actual puppeteer: \nPRINCETON (early 20’s): A fresh-faced kid just out of college. He is looking for his “purpose” in life and is pursuing a career\, love and life satisfaction. He is a little naïve to the realities of life\, as most people are at that age. Bb2 – G4 Tenor \nKATE MONSTER (mid 20’s): A kindergarten teaching assistant\, a bit older than Princeton. She is kind\, considerate but can have a feisty side. “She’s not weak and she’s definitely not a generic ingénue who gets all swoony and dizzy when it comes to matters of the heart.” F#3 – F5 Soprano (Mezzo) \nNICKY (20’s): A bit of a slacker\, who lives with Rod. They are best friends but have a fiery relationship and can often be found arguing. He comes out over the course of the show. “Rod carries a huge amount of the heart of the show. The actor playing him can have a ball even with the responsibility with keeping him true.” A2 – G4 Tenor  \nTREKKIE MONSTER (20’s/30’s): A reclusive creature obsessed by the Internet. Although he appears abrupt and rude\, a sensitive side is revealed during the show. He has a “Cookie Monster” growl to his voice which would need to be maintained. Bb2 – F#4 Baritone  \nLUCY (20’s/30’s): A vixenish vamp with a dangerous edge. She has starred in “Girls Gone Wild: Parts 2\, 5 and 7”. During the show she seduces Princeton which causes a showdown with Kate. F3 – D5 Alto (Belt)  \nTHE BAD NEWS BEARS (1 x Male\, 1 x Female): Two snuggly\, cute teddy-bear types who convince people to do bad things!! “The bears always work better when they’re cute cute cute and positive. Diabetes inducing sweet.” Male – Baritone. Female – Mezzo  \nMRS. T (Ancient): Kate’s boss. She is cranky and bossy.  \nHUMAN CHARACTERS: \nBRIAN (early 30’s-40’s) A laid-back guy married to Christmas Eve. Unemployed but dreams of becoming a famous ‘smutty’ comedian. “Calling a character “ordinary” is never helpful for any actor – but Brian does live in a relaxed\, easy-come easy-go world.” B2 – F#4 Baritone  \nCHRISTMAS EVE (20’s/30’s/40’s) A therapist who has moved here from Japan. Wears the trousers in her relationship with Brian. “She’s super smart. If you go for the easy stereotype the audience won’t find her funny after about eight minutes.” B3 – F#5 Soprano  \nGARY COLMAN Yes\, that Gary Coleman. He lives on the Avenue\, too! He’s the superintendent. He is a washed up Z-list celebrity who has had a public personal life. The part can be played by a black male/female. D2 – Bb4/D3 – Bb5* Tenor/Alto (Belt)  \nThis is a production of JD Theatricals which is producing the show at the Long Beach Playhouse.

Masks will be required at the auditions. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nSet on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland in 1934\, THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN is a strange comic tale in the great tradition of Irish storytelling. Word arrives on Inishmaan that the Hollywood director Robert Flaherty is coming to the neighboring island of Inishmore to film Man of Aran and is seeking locals to be in the movie. Young Billy Claven\, who is known to the townspeople as Cripple Billy\, sees this as a chance to escape the tedium\, poverty\, and gossip of Inishmaan. A dark comedy full of colorful characters\, humor and poignancy. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nNOTE: All roles require a mild Irish dialect.   \nAll ethnicities are encouraged to audition for any role. \nBILLY CLAVEN (M\, 18 – 25 to play 17/18) A boy with physical deformities that render both his left arm and right leg useless. Over the course of the play\, Billy attempts to achieve something\, anything\, by sailing to Inishmore to audition for a role in a film. He is torn between his obligations to his aunts and his own happiness. Shy and unhappy\, he wants to be seen as more than his physical handicap and his tragic past. \nKATE OSBORNE (F\, 45 – 68 to play mid-60s) One of Billy’s anxious\, adoptive aunts\, Kate is the most worrisome and the most obsessive. She has a habit of talking to stones when she is under stress. \nEILEEN OSBOURNE (F\, 45 – 68 to play mid-60s) Billy’s other adoptive aunt. She is more grounded than her sister\, but is still a worrier when it comes to Billy\, especially when he’s off staring at cows. She is a compulsive candy-eater when she is under stress. \nJOHNNYPATEENMIKE (M\, 45 – 68 to play mid-60s) The town gossip\, he embodies the Irish tradition of storytelling. Bitter and full of his own self-importance\, he brings the only kind of news available or interesting to the people of Inishmaan – and he expects payment in kind. He is not above lurking in the shadows to get the scoop on local gossip. He has a combative relationship with his 90 year old alcoholic mother\, whom he encourages to die on a regular basis.  \nHELEN (F\, 18 – 25 to play 17/18) Fiery\, fierce\, and just plain mean in one moment\, begrudgingly caring in the next\, Helen is a young woman who is not to be messed with. Her self-confidence is part of what makes her so attractive to Billy. She is a brutally comic character who throws eggs at priests\, stomps on geese\, and beheads a cat before the play is through. \nBARTLEY (M\, 18-24 to play 16/17) Helen’s not-too-bright younger brother\, he is a rural teenage boy who obsesses about telescopes and sweets\, asks too many questions\, incurs Helen’s wrath on a regular basis\, and is fascinated by the island’s few unusual qualities. He may represent the boy Billy would have been in a different life. \nBABBYBOBBY BENNET (M\, early 30s) Handsome\, muscular. One of Inishmaan’s resident boatmen\, his wife’s premature death has taken a toll on him. He can be gruff\, but there is a sadness in him. He is the only character that is able to truly sympathize with Billy. \nDOCTOR McSHARRY (M or F\, early 40s) Professional\, yet exasperated\, McSharry is the island doctor who can oftentimes see the extent of the absurdity on the island. McSharry can be cast as either a male or female character. \nMAMMY O’DOUGAL (F\, 55-70s to play early 90s) Johnny’s ancient\, alcoholic\, foul-mouthed mother. Johnny would love nothing more than for Mammy to up and die. Thus\, she is constantly engaged in spiteful banter with him. Strong comedic role for someone who can play older.
