The victim was a particularly obnoxious man with a criminal past. As clues are revealed\, it is apparent that many of the other passengers on the train had a motive to kill him\, making Poirot’s task of identifying the murderer much more difficult. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nNOTE:  All ethnicities are encouraged to audition and will be considered for any role. \nHERCULE POIROT (M\, 55-65): a famous Belgian detective; a “Big” personality; authoritative\, witty\, charismatic and slightly pompous; strong moral sense; very aware of his ability and his well deserved reputation.  (French/Belgian accent required.) \nMONSIEUR BOUC (M\, 30-59): an English of good humor; playful\, proud\, generous; a predilection for grandeur; a whirlwind of energy; must be an excellent comedian. (French/Belgian accent required.) \nMARY DEBENHAM (F\, 30-40): an English beauty; a governess\, capable yet romantic; a sadness around her eyes and a hardness about her person. (British dialect required.) \n HECTOR MACQUEEN (M\, 30-40): an American; tightly wound\, edgy and nervous; he seems to always be on the verge of falling apart or coming unwound.  \nMICHEL the Conductor/MARCEL (M\, 30-59): one actor will play two roles: Michel: a good-looking Frenchman\, a quiet\, almost grave sense of humor; unfailingly polite. Marcel: a Turkish waiter\, snooty\, smooth; must have great comic timing. (Dialects needed.) \nPRINCESS DRAGOMIROFF (F\, 60-79): a Russian dowager; very formal\, a sweeping\, impressive presence; imperial\, impatient. (Russian dialect required.)  \nGRETA OHLSSON (F\, 25-35): inherently odd\, and very devout Swedish woman; a frightened\, sheeplike quality; must be an excellent comedienne with an impeccable Swedish accent. (Swedish dialect required.) \nCOUNTESS ANDRENYI (F\, 25-39): brilliantly beautiful\, like something out of a fairytale; impeccably put together\, with a warmth that wins over everyone she meets; her delicacy belies a steely edge; she is no wilting flower. (Hungarian or generic European accent required.) \nHELEN HUBBARD (F\, 30-65): an outspoken and flamboyant American from the Midwest; jovial\, obnoxious\, domineering\, deliciously nosy and brash; unapologetic; must be an excellent comedienne.  \nCOLONEL ARBUTHNOT (M\, 35-59): Scotsman\, also middle aged\, handsome\, very matter of fact\, occasionally tender; must have great comic timing. Ebenezer Scrooge\, a miserly man who has cut himself off from humanity\, is visited by the ghost of an old colleague\, followed by three more spirits. Can past memories\, the presence of Christmas\, and visions of a dark future be enough to influence Scrooge to re-enter the world and make the impact on all around him\, including a young boy who struggles to walk? \n  \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\n\nNOTE: All cast members will be asked to do a British accent.\nWe are looking to cast 10-11 actors. Disguised as a nun\, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir\, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but\, in doing so\, blows her cover. Soon\, the gang is giving chase\, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nNOTE: All roles are singing roles. \nMost roles also require dancing/moving well. \nAll ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition.  All roles are open to any ethnicity unless indicated in the character description. \nDeloris Van Cartier (F – 25-35\, Ethnicity: African American\, Vocal Range: E3-F#5) An aspiring performer\, trying to find both fame and a place in the world. When forced to hide in a convent\, she initially refuses to embrace her lifestyle but learns to embrace it when she works with the choir. Loud-mouthed\, and sassy\, but ultimately caring. \nMother Superior (F – 50-70\, All Ethnicities\, Vocal Range: D3-E5) The head of the convent\, sarcastic and a bit stiff. Extremely protective about keeping her sisters away from the outside world\, which puts her in direct opposition to Deloris and her musical teachings. \nSister Mary Robert (F – 16-25\, All Ethnicities\, Vocal Range: F#3-A5) A postulant\, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy and soft-spoken but singing with Deloris lets her find her voice. Her wallflower lifestyle has made her live a shell of a life. \nSister Mary Patrick (F – 35-50\, All Ethnicities) A nun of the convent. Consistently perky\, enthusiastic\, and easily excitable. \nSister Mary Lazarus (F – 50-70\, All Ethnicities\, Vocal Range: F3-B4) A nun of the convent and the head of the choir. Rather deadpan and the least welcoming of any of the nuns\, but she gets caught up in Deloris’s soul music. \nMonsignor O’Hara (M – 45-60\, All Ethnicities\, Vocal Range: G4-E3) One of the heads of the convent. Constantly concerned with financial matters\, though soul music surprisingly puts him in a different mood. Speaks with the soulful bass-baritone of Barry White or a late night R&B radio station DJ. \nCurtis (M – 30-40\, Ethnicity: African American\, Vocal Range: A2-Ab4) A Club owner\, notorious gangster\, and Deloris’s boyfriend. Cocky and controlling\, always on the verge of violence. \nEddie Souther (M – 25-35\,  Ethnicity: African American\, Vocal Range: Ab2-B4) The desk chief at the Philadelphia police station and a high school classmate of Deloris who helps get her into hiding. Faces a lot of nerves when under pressure\, causing him to sweat profusely. He still yearns for Deloris after all these years\, and dreams of being her hero. \nTJ (M – 16-30\, Ethnicity: African American\, Vocal Range: Db3-Eb5) Curtis’s nephew and one of his thugs. Deft and cognizant of the fact\, constantly in a state of ignorant bliss. \nJoey (M – 30-40\, All Ethnicities\, Vocal Range: Bb2-Eb5) One of Curtis’s thugs. Believes himself to be quite the ladies man. \nPablo (M – 25-40\, Ethnicity: Latinx\, Vocal Range: C4-F5) One of Curtis’s thugs. A natural follower\, constantly speaks Spanish. \nSister Mary Martin-of-tours (F– 40-60\, All Ethnicities) A Nun of the convent. Clearly in her own world\, but has her moments of surprising clarity. \nSister Mary Theresa (F– 60-70\, All Ethnicities) A nun of the convent\, the oldest of the group. Decrepit at first glance but secretly packs a punch. \nMichelle (F– 20-30\, All Ethnicities\, Vocal Range: Bb3-F5) One of Deloris’s back-up singers. Lippy and always quick with a retort. \nTina (F– 20-30\, All Ethnicities\, Vocal Range: Ab3-F5) One of Deloris’s back-up singers. A little thick and naïve. \nErnie (M – 25-35\, All Ethnicities) One of Curtis’s thugs. Masks will be required at the auditions.\nMust be 18 or older to audition.  \nThe roles of Prior\, Joseph (in Part Two)\, and Harper (in Part Two) will require nudity.\n\nAll nudity during the show\, rehearsals\, and auditions will be handled under strict guidelines.  Please take note that while this is not an Equity production\, we will be following guidelines taken from the Equity Rules. \nNOTE: The Playhouse will produce the second part of ANGELS IN AMERICA: PERESTROIKA as the opener of their 2022 Studio Season next year.  Actors cast in Part One may be invited back to participate in Part Two after the run of Part One. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nAngels in America is a fantastic and sometimes surreal journey through the lives of two couples during the AIDS crisis in 1985-86.  One couple is Louis\, a Jewish word processor\, and Prior Walter\, a former drag queen who has AIDS.  The other is Joe Pitt\, a Mormon Republican and lawyer\, and his wife\, Harper.  Another key player is the ethically questionable lawyer Roy Cohn\, a dramatized version of the real person (Cohn was counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy during the “Communist witch-hunts” of the 1950’s.)  Cohn is dying of AIDS and is in the process of being disbarred. \nRE-CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES (4 actors):\nNOTE:  All roles are open to any ethnicity except where it is specifically dictated by the script.  Specific ethnicities will be indicated in the character descriptions if necessary. \nJOSEPH PORTER PITT (M\, early 30’s\, Ethnicity: White Mormon from Utah) Mormon chief clerk for Justice Theodore Wilson of the Federal Court of Appeals\, Second Circuit. Actor also plays Prior Walter 1 and Eskimo.  (Role Requires full nudity in Part Two: Perestroika\, occurring next year)  \nHARPER AMA TY PITT (F\, early 30’s\, Ethnicity: White Mormon from Utah) Joe’s Mormon wife\, an agoraphobic with a mild Valium addiction.  Actor also plays Martin.  (Role Requires full nudity in Part Two: Perestroika\, occurring next year)  \nPRIOR WALTER (M\, 31\, Ethnicity: White WASP\, last member of a long-lived family with English ancestors.) Louis’s boyfriend. Occasionally works as a club designer or caterer\, otherwise lives very modestly but with great style off a small trust fund. Actor also plays Man in Park. (Role Requires full nudity) \nLOUIS IRONSON (M\, early 30’s\, Ethnicity: White Jew from New York Area) a Jewish word processor working for the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. \nNOTE: The rest of the roles in the show will be retained by those actors originally cast in 2020.  The Playhouse will produce the second part of ANGELS IN AMERICA: PERESTROIKA as the opener of their 2022 Studio Season next year.  Actors cast in Part One may be invited back to participate in Part Two after the run of Part One.

Sibley \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nIt’s the story of the death of a certain kind of unsung American hero who lived in the first half of the last century and did much to change the future of this country. It’s based on the life of Phil Raymond\, the man who built the Auto Workers Union which became the UAW\, CIO. He was the man who led the sit-down strike against GM in Flint\, Michigan in 1933. The inspiration for this story comes from a conversation he had with his screenwriter son days before he died in 1989. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nMURRAY – (M\, 70’s) Caucasian\, Jewish\, Cynical\, Defiant\, Passionate\, Vulnerable\, Union Organizer\, Communist. Prepare a short physical comedy gag to perform at the audition (only do as much as you can do safely).  \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nThe first act of a farce entitled Nothing On is rehearsed and performed by a cast of somewhat ill-equipped actors (and techies)\, first during a final rehearsal and\, subsequently\, at two performances during the run (once letting the audience in to the mayhem occurring backstage).  This farce within a farce requires breakneck timing\, daring courage\, and strong physical comedy abilities. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nNOTE:  All roles are open to all ethnicities \nDOTTY OTLEY  (F\, 50s-60s) The producer of the show and the woman playing the comic lead\, Mrs. Clackett\, the housekeeper.  Not as secure on stage as she was in her prime\, but still a fierce performer.  (Able to switch between an American and Cockney accent.) \nLLOYD DALLAS (M\, 40s-60s) The director of Nothing On\, dealing with a play that is plagued with difficulties\, while trying to move on to his artistic project of directing Richard III.  (May have British or American accent.) \nGARRY LEJEUNE (M\, Late 20s-Early 40s) Leading actor playing Roger Tramplemain\, the philandering Real Estate agent.  Pictures himself as a strong leader\, but is unable to intelligently complete a sentence.  (Able to switch between an American and British accent.) \nBROOK ASHTON (F\, 20s) A beautiful\, but frightfully inexperienced young actress.  Must be comfortable performing most of the play in her underwear.  Having a secret relationship with Lloyd.  (Able to switch between an American and British accent.) \nPOPPY NORTON-TAYLOR (F\, 20s-30s) The problem-solving Assistant Stage Manager\, also having a secret relationship with Lloyd.  She understudies the female roles in Nothing On.  (Must have strong Cockney accent.) \nFREDERICK FELLOWES (M\, 30s-50s) An extremely good-looking and nice leading man\, who plays Philip Brent\, the owner of the estate in Nothing On.  Always willing to take the blame or smooth over a problem\, usually to the detriment of everyone.  (Able to switch between an American and British accent.) \nBELINDA BLAIR (Female\, 30s-50s) Attractive leading lady type\, who plays Flavia Brent\, Philips well-to-do trophy wife.  She’s the one in the cast one goes to for the dirty secrets.  She knows them all.  Will do anything to keep the show afloat.  (Able to switch between an American and British accent.) \nTIM ALLGOOD (M\, 20s) Stage manager for Nothing On.  He also does EVERYTHING that needed for the theatre\, hence usually accomplishing nothing.  He is the understudy for all male roles in Nothing On.  (Must have strong Cockney accent.) \nSELSDON MOWBRAY (M\, 60s-Death) Formerly a brilliant stage actor\, who’s career has hit the skids because of poor life choices\, he is now playing the smallest role in Nothing On – The Burglar.  (Able to switch between an American and Cockney accent.)

Claude\, his best friend Berger\, their roommate Sheila\, and their Tribe of friends struggle to balance the demands of the harsh and violent world with their dream for a more beautiful and peaceful world. When Claude receives his draft notice\, he must decide whether to join his friends in resisting the draft\, or bow to the pressures of society and his conservative parents\, thereby sacrificing his ideals and\, possibly\, his life. Hair was a sensation when it premiered in 1967\, as it brought the counterculture movement into the theatre and the national spotlight. She has a larger-than-life personality and imagines herself to be a much bigger celebrity than she actually is. In the piece de resistance\, they plan to cover the room in meat and honey so Kyle will be mauled by a bear. Through this night of emotional trials and ridiculous theatrics\, Nan and Kyle are both freed from their past in this smart\, dark revenge comedy. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nAll characters sing with a Georgia dialect. None of the other characters like him and neither should the audience – even though he is killed in the first act\, his body gets to hang around in the second act. A good-looking man of about forty with a rather expressionless face who works in the foreign office\, a strong\, solid type. One minute monologue of choice. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS: \nFollowing in the steps of its cousin Almost\, Maine\, LOVE/SICK tells 9 different stories where the woes of love take the forefront. Misery loves company as the characters of LOVE/SICK try to make sense of life after love. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES: \nNOTE: All races\, genders\, sexual orientations\, ages\, etc. are encouraged to audition. \n\nActors must be comfortable with all types of intimacy (same-sex\, hetero\, etc.)\nAll actors in the show will be double or triple cast.\nActors auditioning for the part of the Singing Telegram Man will be asked to sing Happy Birthday a cappella.\n\n“OBSESSIVE IMPULSIVE” \nWOMAN (F\,  20s – 30s)  a woman who fights her impulses decently well.
