SUMMARY:GUYS AND DOLLS
DESCRIPTION:Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City\, Guys And Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile\, his girlfriend\, nightclub performer Adelaide\, laments that they’ve been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough\, but Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Guys And Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana\, Cuba\, and even into the sewers of New York City\, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. \nCAST LIST: \nJohn Carroll (SKY MASTERSON) \nAndrea R. SUMMARY:COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI
DESCRIPTION:What if the classic romantic comedy\, Cyrano DeBergerac\, was set in modern day Wyoming?  What if the large-nosed protagonist was now an Asian American High School English teacher and his love interest was the beautiful new Asian American teacher with a preference for dating white guys? Will he help his cowboy friend win the girl\, or make his own feelings known?  With quick-paced banter and witty repartee\, this delightful romantic comedy addresses the issues of inter-racial relationships and platonic loyalty.  When Travis Park needs to choose between the Asian American and the American within himself\, who will win\, the Cowboy or the Samurai? \nCast List: \nLee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS) \nRosie Narasaki (VERONICA) \nPerry Pang (CHESTER) \nChristian Skinner (DEL) \nSHOW TRAILER: \n \nPERFORMANCE AND PRESS PHOTO GALLERY: \n\n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 1: Perry Pang (CHESTER)\, Rosie Narasaki (VERONICA)\, Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 2: Christian Skinner (DEL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 3: Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\, Rosie Narasaki (VERONICA)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 4: Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\, Rosie Narasaki (VERONICA)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 5: Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\, Christian Skinner (DEL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 6: Perry Pang (CHESTER)\, Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 7: Christian Skinner (DEL)\, Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 8: Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 9: Rosie Narasaki (VERONICA)\, Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 10: Perry Pang (CHESTER)\, Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 11: Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\, Christian Skinner (DEL)\, Rosie Narasaki (VERONICA)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 12: Rosie Narasaki (VERONICA)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI (STUDIO\, JULY 22nd – AUG. 19th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 13: Perry Pang (CHESTER)\, Lee Samuel Tanng (TRAVIS)\, Rosie Narasaki (VERONICA)\, Christian Skinner (DEL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n\nPREVEIW REHEARSAL PHOTO GALLERY: \n\n  \nVisit our Facebook Event!

SUMMARY:ALL IN THE TIMING
DESCRIPTION:This critically acclaimed\, award-winning evening of comedic short plays combines wit\, intellect\, satire and just plain fun. David Ives’ collection of six fast-paced glimpses into the eccentricities of life\, love\, communication\, and dating will shine a light at just how absurd our daily lives can become.  The characters you will meet are diverse\, bizarre\, complex and unerringly familiar as the audience is taken on a joy-ride through the human condition – a couple on their first date\, a room of creative simians\, a tutor of an imagined language\, and Phillip Glass are just some of the characters sharing your evening. \nCAST LIST: \nLaura Clagett (KAFKA/SECOND WOMAN) \nMichael Kaye (DAVID/DON/MARK) \nKacey Leggio (WAITRESS/BETTY) \nArturo Jones (SWIFT/AL) \nMitchell Nunn (MILTON/CHARLIE) \nKatherine White (DAWN/FIRST WOMAN) \nLarry Mura (YOUNG MAN/FRANK) \nRick Reischman (BAKER/JOE) \nBrian Pirnat (PHILIP GLASS/BILL) \nSHOW TRAILER: \n \nPERFORMANCE AND PRESS PHOTO GALLERY: \n\n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 1: Laura Clagett (KAFKA/SECOND WOMAN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 2: Arturo Jones (SWIFT/AL)\, Mitchell Nunn (MILTON/CHARLIE)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 3: Arturo Jones (SWIFT/AL)\, Mitchell Nunn (MILTON/CHARLIE)\, Laura Clagett (KAFKA/SECOND WOMAN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 4: Michael Kaye (DAVID/DON/MARK)\, Katherine White (DAWN/FIRST WOMAN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 6: Michael Kaye (DAVID/DON/MARK)\, Arturo Jones (SWIFT/AL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 7: Kacey Leggio (WAITRESS/BETTY)\, Michael Kaye\, (DAVID/DON/MARK)\, Arturo Jones (SWIFT/AL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 8: Laura Clagett (KAFKA/SECOND WOMAN)\, Katherine White (DAWN/FIRST WOMAN)\, Rick Reischman (BAKER/JOE)\, Brian Pirnat (PHILIP GLASS/BILL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 9: Laura Clagett (KAFKA/SECOND WOMAN)\, Brian Pirnat (PHILIP GLASS/BILL)\, Rick Reischman (BAKER/JOE)\, Katherine White (DAWN/FIRST WOMAN)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 10: Rick Reischman (BAKER/JOE)\, Larry Mura (YOUNG MAN/FRANK)\, Mitchell Nunn (MILTON/CHARLIE)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 11: Rick Reischman (BAKER/JOE)\, Larry Mura (YOUNG MAN/FRANK)\, Mitchell Nunn (MILTON/CHARLIE)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 12: Rick Reischman (BAKER/JOE)\, Larry Mura (YOUNG MAN/FRANK)\, Mitchell Nunn (MILTON/CHARLIE)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 13: Kacey Leggio (WAITRESS/BETTY)\, Brian Pirnat (PHILIP GLASS/BILL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 14: Brian Pirnat (PHILIP GLASS/BILL)\, Kacey Leggio (WAITRESS/BETTY)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 15: Kacey Leggio (WAITRESS/BETTY)\, Brian Pirnat (PHILIP GLASS/BILL)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n \n \n \n ALL IN THE TIMING: Six One-Act Comedies (Studio\, SEP. 2nd – Sep. 30th\, 2017)\nPHOTO 16: BACK ROW: Larry Mura (YOUNG MAN/FRANK)\, Michael Kaye (DAVID/DON/MARK)\, Rick Reischman (BAKER/JOE)\, MIDDLE ROW: Arturo Jones (SWIFT/AL)\, Laura Clagett (KAFKA/SECOND WOMAN)\, Mitchell Nunn (MILTON/CHARLIE)\, Brian Pirnat (PHILIP GLASS/BILL)\, FRONT: Katherine White (DAWN/FIRST WOMAN)\, Kacey Leggio (WAITRESS/BETTY)\n(Michael Hardy Photography)\n \n \n\n  \nVisit the Facebook Event!

SUMMARY:CABARET
DESCRIPTION:In the pre-Nazi Germany of the 1930s\, decadence is rampant.  The raucous entertainment of the seamy Kit Kat Club reflects the lives of those drifters that frequent and perform on its stage. From the enigmatic Emcee\, to the wounded Sally Bowles\, to a mature couple dealing with the difficulties of the prevalent antisemitism that flourishes around them\, these familiar characters will reignite the sense of despair and danger so commonly found in fascist regimes.  All balanced with the unforgettable songs of Kander and Ebb\, this is a look at history that you can’t afford to miss.  Come to the Cabaret! \nWARNING: This production contains nudity and sexually suggestive content.  Viewer discretion is advised. \nCAST LIST: \nNoah Wagner (EMCEE) \nCourtney Riel Owens (SALLY BOWLES) \nAustin James (CLIFFORD BRADSHAW) \nLisa J. SUMMARY:AUDITIONS: BLACK COFFEE
DESCRIPTION:TITLE: BLACK COFFEE \nAUTHOR: Agatha Christie \nDIRECTOR: Mitchell Nunn \nRUN:  January 13th – February 10th\, 2018 \nFridays & Saturdays 8pm\, Sundays at 2pm. Special performances on Thursday and Sunday nights will be added for private parties and special events. \nThis is a community theater production.  Non-Equity.  There is no pay. \nAUDITION DATES: \nOpen Call: \nDates: November 6th & 7th\, 2017 \nTimes: 7pm – 9pm \nLocation: Long Beach Playhouse \nCallbacks: \nDate and Time: November 8\, 7pm – 10pm\, by invitation only. \nREHEARSALS: \nDate and Time: \nFirst Read Through: November 11th\, Noon to 3pm \nRegular Rehearsals: Starting Nov 13th: Mondays\, Tuesdays\, Wednesdays 7pm to 10pm and Saturdays 9am to 12pm \nLocation: Long Beach Playhouse \nAUDITION REQUIREMENTS: \nBring headshot and resume. Sides from script will be provided at the auditions for cold readings. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS: \nBlack Coffee gives us a look at society recovering from World War I.  Accomplished physicist Sir Claud Amory has constructed a workable formula for one of the most deadly weapons known to man – the atom bomb and the formula has disappeared. To help him locate the missing formula\, Armory contacts the Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot. But when Poirot arrives\, the old man has a bigger problem: He’s been murdered. The stolen formula could provide the motive while Poirot deduces which of Sir Claud’s house guests\, or family members\, is the killer. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES: \nTREDWELL (M – 46-65) The faithful servant\, but at the same time knows all “the dirty laundry”. \nLUCIA AMORY (F – 25-45) She is Richard’s half- English and half-Italian wife who was largely raised throughout the European continent. She speaks perfect English with an English accent. She is devoted to her husband\, but has a mysterious past and is obviously hiding something. \nCAROLINE AMORY (F – 40+) Claud’s dotty younger\, maiden sister who never stops talking. She is very conservative\, innocent\, and prone to not quite getting the full picture of what goes on around her. She has no idea that half of what she says is funny and often inappropriate. \nRICHARD AMORY (M – 30-45) He is the only son of Claud Amory. He’d rather pursue a military career then be under his father’s thumb. He’s not stupid\, but he’s not the scientific genius that his father is. Newly married\, he is very much in love with his wife Lucia who he married after a brief whirlwind courtship. \nBARBARA AMORY (F – 25-35) She is Claud’s niece and relies upon him for support as she is orphaned. She is a very modern young woman who speaks her mind\, and who likes to live a bit on the wild side. She wants a husband to take her away from her dreary life. \nEDWARD RAYNOR (M – 30-40’s) Sir Claud’s faithful secretary. Observant and intelligent\, and somewhat reserved. One of the few people who actually understands his scientific discoveries and is capable of organizing his/her notes. \nDR. CARELLI (M – 30-60’s) a mysterious visitor who claims to be an old friend of Lucia’s family. Equally charming and suspicious. Speaks with an Italian accent (not necessarily a good one). The character can be played as a real Italian or someone pretending to be a real Italian). \nSIR CLAUD AMORY (F – 50+) He is the irascible Lord of the manor\, who has no affection for his relatives and is devoted solely to his scientific discoveries. \nHERCULE POIROT (M – 40+) A famous detective from Belgium (slight accent) hired by Sir Claud to investigate a theft and death threats. He later ends up investigating Sir Claud’s murder. He has a great sense of dry humor and a sense of the ironic. Oftentimes only Hastings gets his jokes. \nSIR ARTHUR HASTINGS (M – 30-40’s) A former British Army Officer. Loyal friend of Poirot\, though neither as clever or intelligent. \nDR. GRAHAM (M – 30+) Sir Claud’s doctor\, and intelligent man who is not fooled by flattery or easily influenced. Very logical and capable of presenting the facts as he sees them. \nINSPECTOR JAPP (M – 40-60) A Scotland Yard inspector. Loud\, sometimes inconsiderate by nature. \nJOIN OUR FACEBOOK EVENT AND LET US KNOW YOU ARE COMING!

SUMMARY:LONG BEACH SKETCH/PROV FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:The LBP Studio Collaborative Season offers outside\, local theatre companies and performing arts organizations the opportunity to produce their own shows in our Studio Theater. \nLONG BEACH SKETCH/PROV FESTIVAL \nCompany: The Upperclassmen \nTickets: $8 \nDESCRIPTION: \nLike peanut butter and chocolate\, or the saxophone and 1980s soft rock\, some things just belong together. THE LONG BEACH SKETCH/PROV FESTIVAL celebrates two great tastes together – sketch and improv comedy – from some of the funniest and most original troupes performing today in a two-night extravaganza of absurdity. \nOn Saturday\, Feb. 17\, 2018\,  Long Beach Sketch/Prov will offer three comedy workshops as part of the Festival.  If interested\, please RSVP to sketch.prov.festival@gmail.com. Payment will be taken the day of by cash or check. \nThe Work Shops: \n“Silence. Space. Storytelling. Connection.”\n\n12:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M.\n$20\n\nConnecting and telling stories come to us much easier when we slow down. In this workshop\, learn the power of silence and how to use the space around us to connect with our scene partners in an improvised story. We’ll learn how to give focus\, develop presence and awareness\, and even discover the time to speak. Discover skills that are as relevant in our workplace and relationships as they are in improv storytelling.\n\nAbout the Instructor\nLauren Baumbauer is a director and manager for Modjeska Unscripted Theater in Lake Forest\, CA. Having studied extensively at Spectacles Improv Engine in Fullerton and the Impro Studio in Los Angeles\, Lauren’s teaching focuses on narrative storytelling and discovering unique forms of improvised expression.\n\n\n“Etch the Sketch”\n12:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M.\n$20\n\nComedy sketches are tricky beasts to wrangle\, especially for such a short time. For this workshop\, students are asked to bring in a 2-5 page first draft of a sketch and/or 1-2 pages of ideas and premises. We’ll derive our lessons from these\, focusing on character\, how to write for performance\, and how to adapt sketches for both stage and film.\n\nAbout the Instructor\nChris Mertan is a writer\, director\, and member of The Upperclassmen\, host troupe for Long Beach Sketch/Prov. Over the decade\, he has produced and staged countless sketches for both stage and screen in the greater Orange County and Long Beach area. Chris hold a degree in writing from UCSD\, and specialized in drama and film.\n\n\n“Character Study”\nwith Special Guest Instructor Andy Goldberg\n3:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M.\n$20\n\nCharacter counts\, especially since it’s one of the foundations of great improv. Great characters yield great results\, and in this workshop\, we’ll explore the tools that help craft memorable characters to get these results. As useful for the actor and writer as for anyone simply looking to think on their feet a little better\, “Character Study” shows that you can think creatively with confidence.\n\nAbout the Instructor\nAndy Goldberg is an actor\, educator\, and founder of Off the Wall\, LA’s longest-running improv troupe. He is also the author of Improv Comedy\, the seminal textbook originally published by Samuel French\, and has either taught or performed with Robin Williams\, Larry David\, Bonnie Hunt\, Fred Willard\, Tom Hanks\, Bryan Cranston\, and hundreds more.\n  \nCOMPANY STATEMENT: \nEstablished in 2010\, the Upperclassmen is one of America’s only (barely) functioning comedy and improv troupes that keeps a lawyer and registered nurse on retainer.
