SUMMARY:HADESTOWN: Teen Edition
DESCRIPTION:HADESTOWN: Teen Edition\nProduced by The Jewel Box Children’s Theater Company in collaboration with the Long Beach Playhouse.\nPlaying in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Studio Theater\nApril 26 – May 24\, 2025\nBook\, Music\, & Lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell\nDirected by Anne Kate Mohler\nMusical Direction by Andy Zacharias\nChoreography by Lea Mano\nWinner of the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical\, HADESTOWN: Teen Edition is an intriguing and beautiful folk musical that explores the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice with a young cast of actors 13-19.  Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice\, and that of immortal King Hades and Lady Persephone\, this beautiful and beguiling sung-through show pits industry against nature\, doubt against faith\, and fear against love with music inspired by classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz. Thought-provoking\, powerful and prophetic\, HADESTOWN is cause for celebration in this transporting musical hit! SUMMARY:Neil Simon’s PLAZA SUITE
DESCRIPTION:Neil Simon’s PLAZA SUITE\nPlaying in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Mainstage Theater\nNov. 1 – Nov. 29\, 2025\nBy Neil Simon\nDirected by James Rice\nHilarity abounds in Neil Simon’s portrait of three couples successively occupying a suite at The Plaza Hotel. The first tale is of a marriage in tatters\, as the room a suburban couple uses while their house is being painted turns out to be the suite they honeymooned in years ago. In the second\, a Hollywood producer reconnects with a childhood sweetheart for a little romantic diversion\, but she turns out to be more than he bargained for. In the third\, the parents of a bride are fighting about the best way to get their daughter out of the bathroom and down to the ballroom to get married. The town will be set laughing in this wild and richly funny farce that answers the age old question\, “What if these walls could talk?” \nPURCHASE YOUR TICKETS HERE:\nCHOOSE YOUR DATE:\nTHIS PRODUCTION CLOSED NOV. 29\, 2025 \nAGE LIMIT \nAs a courtesy to our patrons\, it is the policy of the theatre not to admit children under the age of 5. You know the story: Brian the Brain\, Claire the Princess\, Andrew the Jock\, Allison the Madwoman\, and Bender the Wretch are all stuck in Saturday detention under the not-entirely-benign watch of Vice Principal Vernon. Together\, they spend the day joking\, musing\, fighting\, kissing\, flouting authority\, and\, hopefully\, growing up. Through elevated language and spectacular design melding iconic ’80s looks with Elizabethan sensibilities\, The Club of Broken Fasts transforms this classic coming-of-age tale into a dramatic stage comedy fit for the Globe itself! \n\nOr if you prefer\, in verse: \nIt’s forty years since first we came to see \nThe work of teen movie auteur John Hughes. \nSee it re-writ in verse\, with endless glee! \nYou know the story\, though the words are new: \nBrain\, princess\, jock\, madwoman\, and a wretch\, \nOne Saturday\, sit in their school detain’d; \nAnd\, ere the strike of four\, all rules reject\, \nTheir secrets\, nay\, their very souls laid plain. \nBut one day’s liv’d within our humble show\, \nYet in that day\, such marvels come to pass \nThat something more of life you’ll come to know \nWhen you behold the Club of Broken Fasts! \n\n\n\nThe LBP Studio Collaborative Season offers outside\, local theatre companies and performing arts organizations the opportunity to produce their own shows in our Studio Theater.

SUMMARY:Agatha Christie’s GO BACK FOR MURDER
DESCRIPTION:Agatha Christie’s GO BACK FOR MURDER\nPlaying in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Mainstage Theater\nJan. 10 – Feb. 7\, 2026\nBy Agatha Christie\nDirected by Philip Brickey\nThe Queen of Mystery does it again in this ingenious detective story about a devastating event in a family’s past. Carla Crale believes her mother was wrongly convicted of her father’s murder. In an attempt to clear her mother’s name\, she persuades those present on the day of her father’s death to return to the scene of the crime and ‘go back’ 16 years to recount their version of events. The play thrillingly slips from past to present\, as Carla takes on the role of her mother to see how others’ stories of what happened are warped by time\, prejudice\, and perception.  Can Carla find the real murderer\, or will the truth always be clouded by mystery? \nPURCHASE YOUR TICKETS HERE:\nCHOOSE YOUR DATE:\nTHIS PRODUCTION CLOSED ON FEB. 7\, 2026 \nAGE LIMIT \nAs a courtesy to our patrons\, it is the policy of the theatre not to admit children under the age of 5. Between the morning service and Sunday dinner\, old tensions and quiet grief simmer beneath the surface. Elice Johnson\, the family matriarch\, leans on her faith to hold everyone together\, but her adult children wrestle with doubt\, disappointment\, and what belief means in their own lives. As memories of their late brother Emmanuel linger\, conversations about love\, loss\, and religion push the family to confront the difference between inherited faith and lived experience. \nCompany Statement:\nNodding Off in Church marks the first official production under our company\, and we couldn’t think of a better place to bring it to life than the Long Beach Playhouse. I had the honor of performing here last year in August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson\, an experience I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. To now return as both creator and director is a full-circle moment I’m deeply grateful for. With this company\, our goal is simple: to tell stories that spark conversation. We want to explore the uncomfortable\, the honest\, and the human because those conversations are what we believe bring us closer together. \nThe LBP Studio Collaborative Season offers outside\, local theatre companies and performing arts organizations the opportunity to produce their own shows in our Studio Theater.
