If possible\, roles will be offered at the end of the evening in person. \nSHORT SYNOPSIS:  \nHEATHERS: The Musical is the darkly delicious satire based on the iconic teen-comedy movie of the 80s. Veronica Sawyer\, a brainy teenage misfit\, hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. Once there\, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid\, J.D. But before she can get comfortable atop the food chain\, she runs afoul of Heather Chandler\, the almighty queen of the school. Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass…but J.D. has other plans\, as a series of murders of Westerberg’s most popular students reveals the real-cut throat nature of teenage popularity. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES: \nNOTE: All roles are open to any ethnicity.  All roles are singing roles. Due the mature nature of this show\, we are only considering adult actors who are 18+ at the time of the auditions. \nWARNING: HEATHERS is a dark comedy satire that deals frankly and sometimes comically with subjects such as murder\, suicide\, bullying\, teen sexuality\, and drug use. Please seriously\, and honestly\, consider your ability and comfort dealing with these issues before committing to your involvement in the show. \nIn particular\, you should note the following: \n\nVeronica and JD are required to kiss multiple times and be involved a simulated sex scene.\nSome of the other Westerberg High Students are required to “make-out” at the party.\nKurt\, Ram\, JD and Veronica are required to appear on stage in their underwear.\nMartha and Heather McNamara attempt suicide in the show.\nVeronica fakes her own suicide.\nVeronica\, Kurt\, and Ram are involved in a scene where a drunken assault is implied.\nHeather Chandler\, Kurt\, and Ram are murdered in the show.\nMartha is verbally bullied about her weight.\nMany characters sing about topics of a sexual nature.\nSome scenes depict the use of alcohol and drugs.\nSome scenes and songs include coarse language and adult themes.\n\nWe have included this information not to put you off from auditioning but rather to be honest about what the show includes. Voice: High belting required\, Must have dynamic and stylistic range. Burns to be both cool and kind\, but doesn’t yet know how to be both at the same time. Fierce sense of right and wrong\, keen sense of ironic humor. Thinks she’s an old soul\, but she’s still innocent enough to be blindsided by love or shocked by cruelty. (Role requires Intimate Moments with other actors: kissing\, touching\, embracing\, simulated sex scene.  Actor will be required to be Seen in Underwear: bra and panties.) \nJASON “J.D.” DEAN: (M\, 18 – 28 to play 17) Vocal Range: C3-Bb4. Voice: Strong\, confident belt with a wide emotional range. Darkly charismatic\, compelling\, attractive. Charming on the outside\, damaged on the inside. Keen smarts\, savage wit. (Role requires Intimate Moments with other actors: kissing\, touching\, embracing\, simulated sex scene.  Actor will be required to be Seen in Underwear: tighty-whities.) \nHEATHER CHANDLER: (F\, 18 – 28 to play 17) Vocal Range: A3-E5. Voice: Strong belt\, Mezzo for chorus. The richest\, hottest\, cruelest girl in town. Relishes power and wields it without fear\, patience\, or mercy. (Role requires Intimate Moments with other actors: kissing\, touching\, embracing.) \nHEATHER MCNAMARA: (F\, 18 – 28 to play 17) Vocal Range: G3-F5. Voice: Strong belt\, Soprano for chorus. Beautiful\, innocent\, stupid. Can be mean on command if Heather Chandler orders it\, but actually quite vulnerable and fearful. (Role requires Intimate Moments with other actors: kissing\, touching\, embracing.) \nHEATHER DUKE: (F\, 18 – 28 to play 17) Vocal Range: A3-G5. Voice: Strong belt\, Alto for chorus. The whipped beta dog of the three Heathers. Deeply insecure. When she finally becomes Queen Bee\, she wields power like a bulldozer. (Role requires Intimate Moments with other actors: kissing\, touching\, embracing.) \nMARTHA DUNNSTOCK: (F\, 18 – 28 to play 17) Vocal Range: G3-Eb5. Voice: Strong belt\, wide vocal expression. Nicknamed “Martha Dumptruck\,” the opposite of confident and popular. Huge and beautiful soul\, optimistic even in the face of rejection. \nRAM SWEENEY: (M\, 18 – 28 to play 17) Vocal Range:  B2-F#4. Voice: Strong baritone\, some falsetto useful. Linebacker. Big\, insensitive to the feelings of others\, ruled by appetites. (Role requires Intimate Moments with other actors: kissing\, touching\, embracing.  Actor will be required to be Seen in Underwear: tighty-whities.) \nKURT KELLY: (M\, 18 – 28 to play 17) Vocal Range:  Bb2-A4. Voice: tenor\, strong belt\, some falsetto. Quarterback and captain. Chiseled\, rude\, entitled\, cocky. He’s the brains in the friendship with Ram. (Role requires Intimate Moments with other actors: kissing\, touching\, embracing.  Actor will be required to be Seen in Underwear: tighty-whities.) \nFACULTY/PARENTS: \nMS. FLEMING: (F\, 40 – 50) Vocal Range: Ab3-F5. Voice: Great belt. Aging hippie teacher\, still yearning for the day the Age of Aquarius reaches Ohio. Resentful of today’s entitled youth\, protective of the underdogs. Despite a penchant for self-promotion\, genuinely cares about the students in her charge. Berated by his tightly wound supervisor William\, clueless in the presence of local hero cop Bill\, and hopeless in the presence of Bill’s attractive rookie partner\, Dawn\, Jeff can’t help but say the wrong thing at the wrong time.
