SUMMARY:A DOLL’S HOUSE\, PART 2
DESCRIPTION:A DOLL’S HOUSE\, PART 2\nPlaying in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Studio Theater\nJuly 18 – Aug. 15\, 2026\nBy Lucas Hnath\nDirected by Phyllis Gitlin\nFifteen years ago\, Nora Helmer slammed the door on her stifling domestic life\, leaving behind her husband and children for a life unknown.  Now she is knocking at that same door\, having returned with an urgent request for her former husband. Before Nora can get what she needs\, she must reckon with the people she left\, all of whom have some choice words for the former Mrs. Helmer. A DOLL’S HOUSE\, PART 2 is a funny\, probing\, and bold new comedy/drama that is at once a continuation of Ibsen’s play and a heartfelt meditation on how far we’ve come in the century and a quarter since. \n \nA Big THANK YOU to the Port of Long Beach for Sponsoring the 2026 Studio Season! \nPURCHASE YOUR TICKETS HERE:\nCHOOSE YOUR DATE:\n\nFriday\, July 17\, 8pm – Preview\nSaturday\, July 18\, 8pm – Opening Night and Champagne Gala\nFriday\, July 24\, 8pm\nSaturday\, July 25\, 8pm\nSunday\, July 26\, 2pm\nFriday\, July 31\, 8pm\nSaturday\, August 1\, 8pm\nSunday\, August 2\, 2pm\nFriday\, August 7\, 8pm\nSaturday\, August 8\, 8pm\nSunday\, August 9\, 2pm\nFriday\, August 14\, 8pm\nSaturday\, August 15\, 8pm – Closing Night\n\nAGE LIMIT\nAs a courtesy to our patrons\, it is the policy of the theatre not to admit children under the age of 5. Narrated by a pompous Lecturer\, the show follows all-American teenager Jimmy Harper as he’s lured into a reefer den and his wholesome life spirals into deception\, obsession\, and madness. Outrageous and over-the-top. It’s 1930s camp\, gangster movies\, and musical theater madness colliding with sharp wit and a killer score. \nCASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:\nAll roles are open. Long Beach Playhouse encourages actors of all backgrounds\, gender identities\, and abilities to audition. \nNOTE:  REEFER MADNESS is a hilarious\, over-the-top adult musical comedy like the Rocky Horror Show that contains simulated drug use\, and comedic\, simulated orgy-like scenes as well as simulated sexual scenes.  Please read the script before auditioning to make sure you are comfortable doing a show like this.  Due to the adult nature of the show\, no one under the age of 18 will be cast. \nJIMMY HARPER (M\, Tenor\, 18-24): A wholesome\, innocent student who runs into trouble after he’s lured into the dangerous world of reefer. Must sing\, act\, and move well. (Intimacy requirements – kisses MARY LANE multiple times\, simulated sexual moments with SALLY.) \nMARY LANE (F\, Soprano\, 18-24): Jimmy’s pure and devoted sweetheart; naïve and bright. Must sing\, act\, and move well. (Role requires being seen in underwear – bra and panties. Intimacy requirements – kisses JIMMY multiple times; has simulated dominatrix/BDSM sexual moments with RALPH.) \nTHE LECTURER (Any\, Baritone\, 35-55): A pompous authority figure who frames the action as a cautionary tale. Dry comic presence. Must own the stage. Must sing. (Plays multiple different roles in the show.  Role as GOAT MAN/SATYR in Bacchanal requires being seen bare-chested in a skimpy satyr costume.) \nJACK STONE (M\, Bass/Baritone\, 25-40): The villain. Handsome\, slick\, charismatic drug pusher. A 1930s gangster movie-type. Strong comic actor; must sing. (Also Plays JESUS – roles requires being seen shirtless in a loincloth.) \nMAE (F\, Mezzo/Soprano\, 25-40): Jack’s attractive\, sharp\, and world-weary girlfriend. Powerful belt. Must sing and move. \nRALPH WILEY (M\, Baritone/Tenor\, 18-30): A dopey\, lovable stoner. A fraternity man whose college days ended long ago due to his reefer habit. Very funny. Strong physical comedy. Must sing. (Intimacy requirements – has simulated dominatrix/BDSM sexual moments with MARY LANE.) \nSALLY DeBOWER (F\, Mezzo-Soprano\, 18-30): Vivacious\, free-spirited “reefer girl” with the soul of Mae West and the moxie of a vintage Barbara Stanwyk. High energy comic role. Must sing and move. (Intimacy requirement: simulated sexual moments with JIMMY.) \nPLACARD GIRL (F\, Soprano/Mezzo\, 18-30): Interacts with and reinforces the Lecturer’s warnings by holding large moral-message signs throughout the production. Strong mover; must sing. \nENSEMBLE: Churchgoers\, students\, junkies and much more. Strong singers who move well. All ages. All voice types.  (Ensemble members will be seen as belly dancers and “jungle orgy” dancers in revealing harem/cabaret style clothing. Intimacy requirements – simulated\, group “orgy-like“ activity in the Bacchanal; “lascivious” style dancing and grinding in “Five and Dime.”) \nBEGINNING REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:\n\n\nReefer Madness Beg. SUMMARY:HANGMEN
DESCRIPTION:HANGMEN\nPlaying in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Studio Theater\nAug. 29 – Sept. 26\, 2026\nBy Martin McDonagh\nDirected by Carl DaSilva\nIn his small pub in Oldham\, Harry is something of a local celebrity. But what’s the second-best hangman in England to do on the day they’ve abolished hanging? Amongst the cub reporters and sycophantic pub regulars dying to hear Harry’s reaction to the news\, a peculiar stranger lurks\, with a very different motive for his visit. Martin McDonagh does it again in HANGMEN\, a corrosively funny black comedy filled with dramatic tension in a juicy tale of capital punishment that will leave you “hanging” on the edge of your seat with suspense and devilish delight. \n  \n \nA Big THANK YOU to the Port of Long Beach for Sponsoring the 2026 Studio Season! \nPURCHASE YOUR TICKETS HERE:\nCHOOSE YOUR DATE:\n\nFriday\, August 28\, 8pm – Preview\nSaturday\, August 29\, 8pm – Opening Night and Champagne Gala\nFriday\, September 4\, 8pm\nSaturday\, September 5\, 8pm\nSunday\, September 6\, 2pm\nFriday\, September 11\, 8pm\nSaturday\, September 12\, 8pm\nSunday\, September 13\, 2pm\nFriday\, September 18\, 8pm\nSaturday\, September 19\, 8pm\nSunday\, September 20\, 2pm\nFriday\, September 25\, 8pm\nSaturday\, September 26\, 8pm – Closing Night\n\nAGE LIMIT\nAs a courtesy to our patrons\, it is the policy of the theatre not to admit children under the age of 5.
