For LA County College Students
LBP is looking for a Costume Shop Intern; this intern will assistant costume design our fall Studio Musical alongside our Resident Costume Designer and Shop Manager. While not working on the Studio Season Musical the Costume Shop Intern will be assisting the Costume Shop Manager with building costumes for other productions, actors’ fittings, costume repair and alterations, and organizing costume stock. This position will work approximately 20 hours a week from June through November.
Qualifications
An interest in theatre.
Intermediate sewing, stitching, ironing, and pattern cutting skills.
Past costuming work or cosplay type projects preferred.
Someone who wants to learn more about the process of theatre production.
Background
The Long Beach Playhouse is one of the oldest continually operating community theatres west of the Mississippi. Our mission is to celebrate the human experience while encouraging the participation of artist and audience alike. LBP produces 12 full shows a year on our 2 stages. LBP produces a range of theatrical programming, plays and musicals, comedies and dramas, classics and contemporary works; there is something for everyone at the Long Beach Playhouse.
