REEFER MADNESS: The Musical

Playing in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Studio Theater

Music and Book by Dan Studney, Lyrics and Book by Kevin Murphy

Directed by Rovin Jay

Musical Direction by Stephen Olear

An unlikely musical comedy inspired by an earnest 1936 public service film of the same name, this raucous spoof takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence. You won’t be able to resist the goofy charm of REEFER MADNESS, an addictive, hilarious, and highly stylized musical romp with a sly satirical political commentary that will leave you wanting more.

A Big THANK YOU to the Port of Long Beach for Sponsoring the 2026 Studio Season!
