Hedwig Schmidt wants her due. After having to change who she was to leave East Germany with an American GI who promises to take her to the states if she changes her sex, Hedwig is left in a Kansas trailer park with regret, a bad operation, and what she calls an “Angry Inch.” She turns to music and meets a geeky boy named Tommy whom she falls for.But he ends up stealing her songs and achieving rock star fame. What’s to be done but to become a rock goddess herself! This Tony and Obie award-winning show is part rock concert, part stand-up routine, and part exploration into what it means to be loved; not only by others, but by yourself.
