In this comic musical feast about everyone’s favorite gothic family, the ultimate daughter of darkness, Wednesday Addams, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart, upstanding young man from a respectable family. But when Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the Addams Family as they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his strait-laced parents. Featuring the characters you love – Uncle Fester, Lurch, Grandma, Pugsley – with darkly comic, hummable songs, this is one musical for your own dark brood you won’t want to miss!

When a mysterious woman finds her way into their lives, the siblings clash over much more than the family business. HAMLET
By William Shakespeare, adapted by James Rice and Amanda Karr
Playing the Long Beach Playhouse’s Mainstage Theater
April 6 – May 4, 2024
Directed by James Rice

Peer into the mind of Shakespeare’s most dynamic character, HAMLET, in a unique adaptation of the bard’s most compelling masterpiece. As Hamlet experiences the death of his father, he is visited by his father’s ghost seeking justice for his murder. Hamlet is shaken by this experience as his potential madness is made tangible when other actors start to take on the aspects of his splintering mind.  The story proceeds as Shakespeare told it, but with a core Hamlet and four others playing his innocence, wisdom, justice, and vengeance. Come see the story you know and appreciate, but with an exciting twist that illuminates the play anew for those familiar and unfamiliar with this seminal tale.

BEN HUR
By Patrick Barlow
Playing in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Mainstage Theater
Feb. 24 – Mar. 23, 2024
Directed by Gregory Cohen

From the playwright who brought us the hilarious The 39 Steps, comes BEN HUR, the epic tale based on one of the best-selling books of the nineteenth century, now told with only four actors! The story follows an amateur theatre troupe as they attempt to produce the massive tale of the fictional Jewish prince, Judah Ben-Hur, complete with chariot race, sea battle, stage combat, and actors struggling with professional rivalries and offstage romances.  In a comedy event bound to be packed with intentional and unintentional laughs, can this plucky band of thespians retell one of the largest stories ever told?

FRANKENSTEIN 1930
By Fred Carmichael
Playing in the Long Beach Playhouse’s Mainstage Theater
Sept. 23 – Oct. 21, 2023
Directed by David Scaglione

Just in time for the Halloween season, FRANKENSTEIN 1930 harkens back to the Universal monster movies of the 1930s in a stage homage that features all the elements we love and remember from those films: the stone walled laboratory, the crazed scientist, angry villagers, a swooning yet determined heroine, a fearful storm, and the hideous but sympathetic creature with its confused mind and powerful, undisciplined body. Can Victor Frankenstein and his fiancée Elizabeth subdue his deadly creation, or will the final confrontation be the end of them all?!?
