AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Bring headshot and resume. 

Bring 16 bars of a classic musical theatre song (no Sondheim or Jason  Robert Brown, please.) An accompanist will be provided, so please bring sheet music that is in your key, clearly prepared, indicating where you start and stop. No tracks or a cappella.

Be prepared to dance.

Sides for cold readings will be provided at the auditions/callbacks.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:  

The heart warming, Tony Award winning musical about the milkman, Tevye and his family in the Jewish community of Anatevka in Tsarist Russian. Tevye strives to keep up the traditions of his faith and culture against the backdrop of discrimination and prejudice.

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

NOTE: All ethnicities and gender identities will be considered for all roles.

TEVYE (M 40-60): A lovable, hard working man with a sense of humor and a connection to his Jewish roots. He is a loving father to 5 daughters. Strong actor who can connect with the audience. Baritone.

GOLDE: (F, 35-50): Tevye’s wife and a strong matriarch. Her passion in life is her family and helping them to have a promising future. Good comic timing. Mezzo.

YENTE (F, 50-70): the matchmaker. She is the village busybody. Alto.

LAZAR WOLF (M, 40-70): The butcher. He is the wealthiest man in town. He wants to marry Tevye’s daughter, Tzeitel. Large presence. Baritone.

TZEITEL (F, 18-25): Eldest daughter. Strong willed. Strong actress. Mezzo.

MOTEL (M, 18-30) The tailor. He is meek, nervous and sensitive. A loveable mensch in love with Tzeitel. Tenor.

HODEL (F, 18-25): Tevye’s second daughter. In love with Perchick. Strong actress, feisty. Mezzo.

PERCHIK (M 20-30): The tutor and a radical. A visitor to the town. Charismatic, in love with Hodel. Tenor.

CHAVA (F 18-23): Tevye’s third daughter. The scholar of the family who falls in love and runs off with Fyedka, a Russian soldier. She breaks her father’s heart. Mezzo.

FYEDKA (M 21-30): The Russian soldier who falls in love with Chava.  Dance skills a plus. High tenor to A.

SHPRINTZE and BIELKE (F, 10-14): Tevye’s two youngest daughters.

BAR MITZVAH BOYS (M, 12-16): Two counterparts to the youngest daughters.

CONSTABLE (M, 30-55): The Russian military official. A good man trapped in his military responsibilities.

THE RABBI (M, 45-85): The religious leader of the village. Baritone.

MENDEL (M, 18-25): The rabbi’s son. Baritone.

MORDCHA (M, 30-70): The innkeeper. Tevye’s friend.

AVRAM (M, 20-50): The bookseller. Baritone.

GRANDMA TZEITEL (M/F 55-70): She is a ghost figure in Tevye’s dream with a very strong solo. The person playing this role will double as ensemble. Mezzo.

FRUMA SARAH: (F, 30-45): Is a ghost figure in Tevye’s dream. Requires a strong singer actress with a challenging solo. The person playing this role will double as ensemble. Mezzo.

NACHUM (M, 20-65): the beggar. Ensemble.

YUSSEL (M, 20-65): the hatter. Ensemble.

SHAINDEL (F, 40-60): Motel’s mother. Ensemble.

SASHA (M, 18-30): Russian soldier. Ensemble.

PRIEST (M 30-60): Christian spiritual leader. Ensemble.

VILLAGERS, RUSSIANS, DANCERS:  Ensemble members for featured dance, singing and acting roles. Russian dancers and bottle dancers.

NOTE: Most named characters will double as villagers and Russian soldiers.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:  

The play takes place in Truvy’s beauty salon in a small town in Louisiana, where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to get their hair done. The women are part of their town’s southern oligarchy. 

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

NOTE: All ethnicities and types are encouraged to audition.

All characters have a basic, Southern stage accent.

TRUVY JONES (F, 35-55). Owner of the beauty shop. She is feisty, wisecracking, and outspoken. Heart of gold, but has been dealt some hard knocks. She offers hairspray with a lot of teasing. (Ability to style hair a plus.)

ANNELLE DUPUY-DESOTO (F, 18-25). Beauty shop assistant. She is unsure and timid at the beginning of the play. Throughout the story she goes from awkward and timid to wild to very religious. Awkward. (Ability to do hair a plus.)

CLAIREE BELCHER (F, 60-70). Widow of former mayor. Grande dame. Elegant, sophisticated, intelligent and very witty with a definite sweet tooth.

SHELBY EATENTON-LATCHERIE (F, 19-28). M’Lynn’s daughter. She is strong willed, pretty and passionate. She loves her mother and the other women but has a stubborn streak.

M’LYNN EATENTON (F, 40-60). Shelby’s mother. Socially prominent career woman. Practical, intelligent, and loving. She is passionate and stubborn about her daughter. 

OUISER BOUDREAX (F, 55-70). Wealthy curmudgeon. Acerbic but loveable. Southern to the core. She is eccentric and quick witted.

SHORT SYNOPSIS: 

The setting of the play is a Long Island mansion. The household consists of a pious, God-fearing tycoon named Joe Benjamin and his family: a long-suffering wife, Rose, a prodigal son, David, a pair of unique and quirky twins, Ben and Sarah, and the maid and butler, Mady and Morris. One night a messenger from God, Sidney Lipton (with a big G on their sweatshirt) arrives, and, as in the biblical story, goes through all manner of temptations to get Joe Benjamin to renounce God. When he refuses, he is visited by all the afflictions imaginable. He stands firm and the messenger has to admit defeat.

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

JOE BENJAMIN (M, 45-55). Joe is the patriarch of the family, whose faith in God in tested.

SIDNEY LIPTON (Gender Open, but must present as Male, 40-55). Quirky messenger from God. Sent to test Joe’s faith.

ROSE BENJAMIN (F 45-55). Joe’s wife. A pampered Log Island housewife.

DAVID BENJAMIN (M, or Male Presenting, late 20’s). Eldest child of Joe and Rose. Intelligent, sarcastic and pessimistic. David is the family ”disappointment” who never reached his potential.

BEN BENJAMIN (M, mid-twenties). Twin of Sarah, youngest children of Joe and Rose. The twins have an IQ of 160 – between them.

SARAH BENJAMIN (F mid-twenties). Twin of Ben, youngest children of Joe and Rose. The twins have an IQ of 160 – between them.

MADY (F, age open). Housekeeper.

MORRIS (M, age open). Butler.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:  

Set in 1936 Pittsburgh, this Pulitzer Prize-winning drama explores an African-American family’s struggle with their heritage and legacy through the story of a brother and a sister fighting over an invaluable family heirloom – a piano intricately carved with their family’s history. 

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

NOTE: All roles are of Black/African descent.

BOY WILLIE (M, 30s, Black/African descent.) Berniece’s brash, impulsive, and fast-talking brother. Coming from Mississippi, Boy Willie plans to sell the family piano and buy the land where his ancestors once worked as slaves. (Ability to play the piano a plus, but not necessary to be cast in part.)

BERNIECE (F, 30s, Black/African descent.) Sister of Boy Willie. Strong-willed and emotionally complex. She blames her brother for her husband’s death, remaining skeptical of his bravado and chiding him for his rebellious ways. (Ability to play the piano a plus, but not necessary to be cast in part.)

LYMON (M, 30s, Black/African descent.) Boy Willie’s longtime friend. Lymon is more taciturn than his partner, speaking with a disarming “straightforwardness.” Fleeing the law, he plans to stay in the North and begin life anew. He is obsessed with women.

DOAKER (M, 40s-60s, Black/African descent.) Berniece and Boy Willie’s uncle. Wise and grounded, Doaker has spent his life working for the railroad. Like Wining Boy, he is a member of the family’s oldest living generation. 

WINING BOY (M, 40s-60s, Black/African descent.) A charming, former musician who drifts in and out of his brother Doaker’s house whenever he finds himself broke. He recounts anecdotes from his travels and, along with Doaker, provides a connection to the family’s history. (Ability to play the piano a plus, but not necessary to be cast in part.)

AVERY (M, 30s, Black/African descent.) Fervently religious, he is a preacher who is trying to build his congregation. Avery moved north to court Berniece after her husband died. He is honest and ambitious and has found opportunities unavailable to him in the rural South.

MARETHA (F, 11, Black/African descent.) Berniece’s daughter. Curious and lively, Maretha symbolizes the next generation of the Charles family.

GRACE (F, 20s-30s, Black/African descent.) A vibrant young woman whom both Boy Willie and Lymon try to pick up.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:  

In the small village of King’s Abbot, before she commits suicide, Mrs. Ferrars admits to her fiancé, Roger Ackroyd, that she had murdered her husband a year earlier. Ackroyd relays the information to the village doctor, James Sheppard, revealing that the woman was being blackmailed to keep the murder a secret. Later, Ackroyd himself is murdered as he sits in his study, and the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is called out of retirement to investigate. Poirot engages Sheppard’s help to find the killer, referring to the doctor as his “Watson”. Every servant and acquaintance in the household at the time of Ackroyd’s murder has something to hide – but who did it? And why?

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

DR. JAMES SHEPPARD:  (M, 50s)  The physician in King’s Abbot. Upon the murder of Roger Ackroyd, Dr. Sheppard serves as Hercule Poirot’s Watson-like associate. It’s important to him to know what Poirot knows, and he is writing it all down with the idea of authoring a book. (Role requires an English Accent.)

CAROLINE SHEPPARD: (F, Late 50s) Dr Sheppard’s older unmarried sister and the leader of the village gossips She knows everything that goes on in the village and has an ability to put pieces together and come up with an answer before anyone else in the community.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

HERCULE POIROT: (M, 45 – 70)  The famous Belgian detective who has retired to King’s Abbot. Poirot is short, has quirky habits and is proud of his carefully groomed mustache. He relies on logic and critical thinking to determine the facts of a crime. He is a master of human nature who keeps his thoughts to himself and only reveals them when he is certain of his theory. (Role requires a Belgian Accent.)

JOHN PARKER: (M, 40 – 60) He is a competent servant and a worrier. He blackmailed a former employer and was looking for an opportunity to blackmail Ackroyd as well.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

GEOFFREY RAYMOND: (M, 25 – 40)   Ackroyd’s secretary and business manager. Raymond is young, charming, debonair and fascinated by every aspect of murder and the investigation. He admits being in debt, but the money he will receive from Ackroyd’s will takes care of this.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

INSPECTOR RAGLAN: (M, Late 50s) The official inspector of Ackroyd’s murder. He is proud of his investigative method, though it is pedestrian at best and usually wrong. He is something of a bumbler.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

MAJOR HECTOR BLUNT: (M, 40 – 50) A big game hunter and friend of Ackroyd. Blunt is a man of few words, but when he does speak, he is . . . blunt. He secretly loves Flora but feels that, as he is considerably older, she doesn’t see him as a romantic partner. By his own admission, he is uncomfortable in society and prefers the jungle of Africa.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

FLORA ACKROYD: (F, early 20s)   Flora is Roger Ackroyd’s young and beautiful niece. She is resentful she is financially dependent on her uncle and agrees to marry Ralph Payton in order to escape this heavy dependence even though she harbors a secret love for Major Blunt.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

MRS. ACKROYD: (F, 40s – 50s) Flora’s mother and Roger Ackroyd’s sister-in-law. Mrs. Ackroyd and Flora came to live at Fernly Park after her husband died, Shallow and solipsistic, she has fallen into debt in an attempt to sustain her lifestyle and is dependent upon money from her penurious brother-in-law. She is a difficult woman to be around. (Role requires an English Accent.)

ELIZABETH RUSSELL: (F, 40s) Ackroyd’s chief housekeeper, She is somewhere over 40 but comes off as older do to her stern demeanor. Elizbeth is efficient and no-nonsense with a proficiency that renders her intimidating. Respectability is deeply important to her, and she has a secret that she fears would ruin her reputation if it came out. (Role requires an English Accent.)

URSULA BOURNE: (F, mid 20s) A housemaid at Fernly Park. ,Born into gentility, Ursula was thrown into the workforce when her father died and the family fortune was lost. Her references may be false, but she is an excellent housemaid and a hard worker.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

NOTE:  KENT AND PATON WILL BE PLAYED BY ONE PERSON

CHARLES KENT: (M, 20s) An alcoholic and heroin addict and relies on thievery. Appears worn and shabby do to heavy drug use. When he is caught attempting to burgle Fernly Park, he demonstrates the anger and the shakes of a drug addict needing a fix. (Role requires an American Accent.)

RALPH PATON: (M, 20s) Ackroyd’s adopted stepson. Payton in handsome and charming, but he is terrible at handling his own finances and obligations. He is steeped in debt and counts on his stepfather’s fortune for support. He is engaged to Flora and has disappeared making him a prime suspect in Roger Ackroyd’s murder.  (Role requires an English Accent.)

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: 

Bring headshot, resume, and calendar of conflicts.  

Audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Sides will be provided at auditions. 

You may be asked to sing your favorite Christmas Carol. Be prepared to sing a cappella or bring your own track.

British accents required for all roles.  

Non-traditional casting welcome: open to all races, genders, and ages.  

SHORT SYNOPSIS:  

An adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas novella, A Christmas  Carol is the famous tale of a miserly old man named Ebenezer Scrooge. Over the course of the story, he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, who give him a new perspective on his life.

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:  

NOTE: Looking to cast 12 actors, with most everyone but Scrooge playing multiple parts. Non-traditional casting welcome: open to all races, genders, and ages.  

EBENEZER SCROOGE (M, to play 50+) A cold-hearted miser, whose fear of the world has manifested in a hatred for Christmas. 

BOB CRATCHIT (M, 35-50) An optimistic, mild-mannered man who loves his family. Also plays Dick Wilkins who was Ebenezer’s best friend when he was younger. 

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST (F, to play 18-25) A strange, otherworldly spirit who shows Scrooge his past. Singing is a bonus. Will also play a Salvation Army Bell Ringer, a Caroler, Martha Cratchit and Ghost of Christmas YTC puppeteer. Singing is a bonus.

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT (M, all ages 20+ considered) An exuberant spirit who is the embodiment of Christmas Day. Singing is a bonus. Will also play Salvation Army Bell Ringer, a Caroler, Mr. Fezziwig and Ghost of Christmas YTC puppeteer.

JACOB MARLEY (M, to play 50 +) The ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge’s dead business partner. Will also play a Narrator, Old Joe, and the Poulterer.  

FRED HOLLOWELL (M, 18-30) Scrooge’s nephew and a joyful young  man filled with Christmas cheer. Will also play Young Ebenezer, Thomas and Broker  2.

BELLE (F, 18-30) A young woman with fierce convictions and the lost love of Ebenezer. Will also play Caroline, Catherine, and Broker 1. 

MRS. CRATCHIT (F, 35-50) A strong headed matriarch of her family. She  is kind-hearted but not afraid to speak her truth. Will also play Mrs. Fezziwig, a Narrator, and Mrs. Oliver.

ELIZABETH HOLLOWELL (F, 18-30) Fred’s outgoing and playful wife.  Singing voice is a bonus. Will also play the Solicitor, Narrator, a Caroler, a party goer and Mrs. Dilber. 

PETER CRATCHIT (M, 13-17) Eldest son of the Cratchits. Singing required. Will also play Ignorance, and Boy. 

BELINDA CRATCHIT (F, 7-13) Youngest daughter of the Cratchits. Will  also play a Street child, Fan, Belle’s daughter, and Want. 

TINY TIM (M, 7-10) A kind-hearted, sickly boy who loves Christmas.  Singing is a bonus. Will also play School-age Scrooge.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:  

Once upon a time there were two households both alike in dignity… Told in the style of Grimm’s fairytales, this classic tragedy is the story two young teenagers falling in love and losing their lives due to their family’s ancient grudge. This timeless story explores themes of love, vengeance, and what our youth is owed. 

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

PLEASE NOTE: Some actors may be asked to move set pieces. Many roles are double-cast. Actors of all ethnicities and genders are encouraged to audition.

  1. ROMEO (M, 18+ to play 16-17): Son of the Montagues. He is intelligent, sensitive, passionate, rash, and idealistic. He loves with all his heart, but not wisely. Will be required to sword fight.
  1. MONTAGUE (M or F, 40’s-70’s): Romeo’s father or mother and head of the Montagues. A distant parental figure. Will also play Friar John, Storyteller, and Lord/Lady.
  1. BENVOLIO (M or F, 18+ to play 16-20’s): A Montague and Romeo’s cousin. He attempts to foster peace rather than violence. Will be required to sword fight.
  1. BALTHASAR (M or F, 18+ to play 16-20’s): Romeo’s serving man. He’s a dedicated servant and friend. Will be required to sword fight.
  1. JULIET (F, 18+ to look 16 – 17): The 13-year-old daughter of the Capulet’s. A funny, naïve, romantic, impatient, and playful young girl. She is discovering the world around her.
  1. CAPULET (M, 40’s – 70’s): Juliet’s father and head of the Capulets. He has a polite public demeanor and an abusive private demeanor. He is decisive, stubborn, and easily enraged.
  1. LADY CAPULET (F, 30’s – 40’s): Juliet’s mother. Married very young and a distant parental figure. She lost many children before Juliet and doesn’t know how to show her love for Juliet.
  1. NURSE (F, 30’s – 60’s): Nurse to Juliet. A talkative, dirty-minded, and caring woman that is very practical. She is like a mother to Juliet.
  1. TYBALT (M or F, 20’s – 30’s): Nephew to the Capulets. Juliet’s cousin on her mother’s side. Aggressive, hotheaded, prideful, and stubborn. He’s/She’s fueled by vengeance. Will be required to sword fight.
  1. PARIS (M, 18-20’s): The Prince’s kinsman and Juliet’s suitor. Presumptuous, emotional, and has noble manners. Will also play Sampson. Will be required to sword fight.
  1. PRINCE ESCALUS (M or F, 16-20’s): Prince of Verona. Young and thrust into a position of power. Seeks to keep the peace and swift in judgement. Will also play Peter.
  1. MERCUTIO (M or F, 18+ to play 16-20’s): The Prince’s kinsman and Romeo’s friend. Irreverent, bitingly witty, and bold. In this telling he/she can harness minor magical powers. Will also play Gregory. Will be required to sword fight.
  1. FRIAR LAWRENCE (M, 40’s – 70’s): A Franciscan friar. He is a civic-minded man that is often the voice of reason. As good intentioned as he is, there is also a self-serving side to this man.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:  

In the English countryside, a number of young women have died under curious conditions, at the same time a mysterious stranger has moved into the abandoned Carfax Abbey nearby. Meanwhile, Dr Cedric Seward, who runs the local mental institution, with his servant Jameson, receives a visit from his old friend, Professor Van Helsing, who has secretly been chasing the famous vampire, Count Dracula and Van Helsing’s journey has brought him to Seward’s sanitarium, but will he appear?

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

NOTE: Actively seeking all ethnicities for all roles.

DR. CEDRIC SEWARD (M; age range 45 – 85) A man of science and not of superstition. Runs the sanitarium, and is a crack shot with a pistol.  (Upper class British accent required.)

JAMESON (M or F; age range 21 – 65) Jameson is the muscle for Seward’s  sanitarium.  (Lower class or Cockney British accent required.)

PROFESSOR VAN HELSING  (M; age range 40 – 70) A learned doctor of letters, wise and direct, spent his life chasing Dracula.  (Dutch accent required.)

DR. HELGA VAN ZANDT (F; age range 25 – 65) A Freudian analyst, she is smart, sexy, alluring, and the secret lover of Lord Godalming.  (German accent required. Role will require intimate contact – kissing and passionate embracing – with Lord Godalming and Dracula.)

LORD GODALMING (M; age range 45 – 70) Proper Englishman of gentry; blustering, devoted to Mother England.  (Upper British accent required. Role will require intimate contact – kissing and passionate embracing – with Dr. Helga Van Zandt.)

MR. RENFIELD (M or F; age range 21 – 40) Dedicated to Count Dracula, feeds on living spiders, flies, and mice because the key is the life’s blood. A patient at Seward’s sanitarium.  (A very physical role. No accent required.)

WILHELMINA MURRAY (F; age range 18 – 35) A young woman. Painfully prim and proper, with hidden passion underneath. Love interest of Jonathan Harker.  (An upper-class British accent required. Role will require intimate contact – kissing and passionate embracing – with Jonathan Harker and Dracula.)

JONATHAN HARKER (M; age range 18 – 35) young reporter, who is adventurous and keen for a story. Love interest of Wilhelmina Murray.  (An upper-class British accent is required. Role will require intimate contact – kissing and passionate embracing – with Wilhelmina Murray.)

COUNT DRACULA (M; age range 25 – 65) A noble count of Transylvania; passionate and powerful.  (A Romania/Transylvanian Accent required. Role will require intimate contact – kissing and passionate embracing – with Dr. Helga Van Zandt and Wilhelmina Murray.)
