In the summer of 1930 in Harlem, NY, the creative euphoria of the Harlem Renaissance has given way to the harsher realities of the Great Depression. Guy and Angel, recently fired from the Cotton Club, struggle to hold on to their dreams; he of costuming Josephine Baker and she of having a steady career as a singer. When Leland, a recent transplant, comes to Angel’s aid, he sees in her a memory of lost love and a reminder of the Alabama skies he misses. Will they find what they are looking for in Harlem, or will they have to look beyond 125th Street to fulfill their dreams?

When someone wins $96,000 in the lottery, everyone is faced with the possibility of their dreams, as the pull of the past and years of tradition color the change that is overtaking their lives and their community.
